Miss Aquafest Pageant Set For May 10th

2007 Miss Aquafest Pageant
Aquafest 2007 had its official kick-off May 12, 2007 with the crowning of the new Miss Aquafest.

Girls ages four to 18 competed in the scholarship competition in five different age brackets.

Each girl was required to compete in portfolio, interview, formal wear and personal introduction categories. They could also choose optional competitions which included talent, casual wear, speech, aspiring actress and more.

After a full day of competition the winners from each age group were crowned by 2004 Miss Aquafest, Cynthia Pardue.

The Princess division which included girls four to six years old crowned Cortney Hemple as Miss Princess. Kellen Benetua, Brooke Bauman, Sarah Lavering and Olivia Polzin were all runners-up.

Girls age seven to nine competed in the Little Miss division with Amanda Mirante taking the crown. Nicole Bauman, Katrina Mueller, Sierra Walker and Britney Watson all claiming prizes as runners-up.

Tessa Tasakos took the crown in the Pre-teen division and Cady Marquardt, from the same division, took home the Lady of the Lake award.

The Junior Teen division consisted of girls age 13 to 15. Three girls competed in this division including Ashley Morrison who was crowned Miss Junior Teen with her runners-up Robyn Lucas and Jordan Scott. Robyn Lucas was awarded the Ambassador Title.

The Miss Aquafest division consisted of girls 16 to 18 years old.

Cambree Benetua was crowned Miss Aquafest 2007 with Kyla Cooper named first attendant, Kristen Lavering, second attendant; Amanda Thomas, third attendant and Kayla Thomas as fourth attendant.

The winners in each division will be making appearances through out the year.  Be sure to see them in this year's Grand Parade during Aquafest, July 27-29. Other prizes included a crown, sash, flowers and an invitation to compete at a state level pageant and/or a $500 U.S. Savings Bond.

Each of the delegates had a great experience and a made new friends along the way.

"Everybody got along really well and we all became really good friends. We had a lot of fun together," Kristen Lavering said, "I would definitely do it again next year."
